The Difference Between a Republican and a Theocrat
Republicans: The government should always cede territory and authority to the private sector, and generally never interfere with business activities of private citizens and entities.
Theocrats: All of the above, but when it comes to religions not practiced by the sect in power, zealously and mercilessly wield the full force of the government (the justice system, regulators, bureaucrats, legislation from the statehouse, legislation from Congress) to defeat the rival faith even in the most benign, trivial, or merely-symbolic of matters.
Thanks, Newt “Saudi-Arabia-Has-The-Right-Idea-On-Religious-Freedom” Gingrich, for making this distinction clear.
